Special Provision 37

Part 3 (Documentation), Part 4 (Dangerous Goods Safety Marks) and Part 6 (Training), do not apply to these dangerous goods or mixtures or solutions of them if they are transported by road vehicle and are

1. purchased by retail sale and are being transported between any of the following places:

   1. the place of purchase,

   2. the place of use or consumption, and

   3. the purchaser’s place of residence;

2. in a quantity less than or equal to 13.6 tonnes; and

3. accompanied by a record sheet that includes the shipping name, the UN number and the quantity of the dangerous goods or mixtures or solutions of them.

Special Provision 68

These dangerous goods are forbidden for transport by vessel if they contain one or more of the following substances:

1. AMMONIUM HYPOCHLORITE;

2. AMMONIUM NITRATE liable to self-heating sufficient to initiate decomposition;

3. AMMONIUM NITRITES and mixtures of an inorganic nitrite with an ammonium salt;

4. CHLORIC ACID, AQUEOUS SOLUTION, with more than 10 % chloric acid;

5. ETHYL NITRITE, pure;

6. HYDROCYANIC ACID, AQUEOUS SOLUTION (HYDROGEN CYANIDE, AQUEOUS SOLUTION) with more than 20 % hydrogen cyanide;

7. HYDROGEN CHLORIDE, REFRIGERATED LIQUID;

8. HYDROGEN CYANIDE, SOLUTION IN ALCOHOL with more than 45 % hydrogen cyanide;

9. MERCURY OXYCYANIDE, pure;

10. METHYL NITRITE;

11. PERCHLORIC ACID with more than 72 % acid, by mass;

12. SILVER PICRATE, dry or wetted with less than 30 % water, by mass; or

13. ZINC AMMONIUM NITRITE.

Special Provision 112

To determine the content of ammonium nitrate in substances that are mixtures and that are transported under UN2067, AMMONIUM NITRATE BASED FERTILIZER, all nitrate ions for which a molecular equivalent of ammonium ions is present in the mixture must be calculated as a mass of ammonium nitrate.

Special Provision 113

The shipping name UN2067, AMMONIUM NITRATE BASED FERTILIZER, must not be used for mixtures containing ammonium nitrate as the main constituent unless the mixtures are within the following limits:

1. at least 90 % ammonium nitrate with 0.2 % or less of total combustible or organic material calculated as carbon and with material, if any, that is inorganic and inert towards ammonium nitrate;

2. less than 90 % but more than 70 % ammonium nitrate with other inorganic materials, or more than 80 % but less than 90 % ammonium nitrate mixed with calcium carbonate, dolomite or mineral calcium sulphate and not more than 0.4 % total combustible or organic material calculated as carbon; or

3. nitrogen-type ammonium nitrate based fertilizers containing mixtures of ammonium nitrate and ammonium sulphate with more than 45 % but less than 70 % ammonium nitrate and not more than 0.4 % total combustible or organic material calculated as carbon such that the sum of the percentage compositions of ammonium nitrate and ammonium sulphate exceeds 70 %.
